Conrads Restaurant Fried Chicken Dinner – Pasadena, Glendale

Restaurant Review:

For a Wednesday late night dinner after a show, we headed for Conrad’s Restaurant in Pasadena. Conrad’s is your basic old-fashioned 24-hour coffee shop with simple interior of comfortable booths and windows looking out to the street – very 70s diner in style, nothing fancy. They  have their own parking lot, so parking here is easy – on this Wednesday night at around 10 p.m. the restaurant was pretty quiet inside. They have a large menu with lots of food choices, but Conrad’s Fried Chicken Special, served all day, caught my eye – especially nice, it’s on special on Mondays and Wednesdays! The meal includes Fried Half Chicken pieces, Cole Slaw, choice of potato (I chose Mashed Potatoes with Gravy), and Roll with butter. This also came with a choice of Soup of the Day or salad – there were two soup choices on this day and I got a cup of Split Pea Soup.

Boy oh boy, did this meal end up being good. The chicken was so hot and juicy and tasted liked they just fried it (I think this may have been fried to order, as it tasted very fresh and took awhile to come out). The old-fashioned roll was soft and tasty, the potatoes yummy. I loved the Coleslaw, very classic diner style flavor that I love. Soup was quite tasty too. I guess you can tell, I really loved this dinner – one of the best Fried Chicken dinners in town, in my opinion. Hubby got the Reuben Sandwich with French Fries and said it was good. This was a lot of food, I could only eat about half the chicken and potatoes – so took home for a yummy lunch the next day.
