Love Boat at Kabuki Japanese Restaurant Pasadena

Friday night we headed on over to Old Town Pasadena to eat at Kabuki Japanese Sushi restaurant on Colorado. We found street parking a few blocks away and walked over – not a bad walk. The place was pretty full up at around 6:45 pm, but we were seated shortly in a nice comfy booth near the back. The inside of the restaurant has a sort of light wood look to it, with clean lines, dividers between different areas of seats, low-ish medium level lighting, an outdoor seating area as well as indoor, and a long sushi bar.

For eats and drinks, we decided to share a bottle of wine and the Love Boat for two. A bowl for each of us of Miso Soup comes with the Love Boat, which is brought to start. The soup is sprinkled on top with a good amount of chopped green onion, that I like. I found the soup quite tasty, pretty rich and filling – I felt almost halfway full up just after soup!

Soon our Boat arrived and, man, was this huge! Piled high with food that includes Chicken Teriyaki, BBQ Beef Ribs, Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, Gyoza Dumplings (yum – Potstickers), Broiled Mussel, California Rolls, and Pineapple. Plus a whole lot of Salad and a bowl of white rice for each of us. Only chopsticks on the table, but that’s okay – I prefer using chopsticks for Asian food (I’m sure there are forks available for the asking, though). The best things were the BBQ ribs, which were really, really yummy, and the Mussel, baked and served on the half shell – tasty. I enjoyed all, though the Teriyaki Chicken lacked flavor, rather bland tasting (and there was lots and lots of Chicken in that Love Boat!). We ate fast, there was so much to choose from – and got full fast too, so we ended up taking half the food home, which made for a nice meal the next day. Check it out:
